Our Poetic Art


The 13th of 14 children by her mother, Mrs. Battle tackles her turbulent growing pains by
writing spoken word and poetic prose. After graduating from The Ohio State University,
Mrs. Battle began to write about her life. It was at OSU that Mrs. Battle met her husband,
Bryan James Battle Sr. Mary Ann Battle is an active member of Alpha Sigma Omega
Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Both Bryan and Mary are law enforcement
officers with the local and state government.  Bryan contributes to the book by adding one
man’s philosophical view of life. This compilation is the third of six books by the couple.  


Each member of the family depicts life in the form of artistic poetry and brings life to the
book by writing down their experiences, feelings, and observations. The Battle family
gives the reader an inside look into an All-American family.

Bryan James Battle, Sr. was born in Columbus, Ohio, the fifth of six children. He enjoys
coaching little league football, movie going, and traveling. In his spare time, he
volunteers his duties with members of his fraternity, Iota Phi Theta fraternity, Inc.

Mary & Bryan Battle reside in Columbus, Ohio, and are the proud parents of Bryan J.
Battle, Jr. The couple and their son are currently working on a book of poetry and spoken
word that deals with the challenges of young men in America. Bryan Battle Jr. is a student
at Oakland Park Traditional School in Columbus, Ohio.
